Archive for July, 2010

In the book of Psalms, chapter 148, the caption/title reads: “All Creation Praises the Lord.” Specifically, verse 13 reads: “Let them praise the name of the LORD: for His name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.” To praise God is to acknowledge the glories of His excellent person.

It is so amzaing to me personally that we are quickly approaching the end of another month and about to begin a new one. As we ponder and reflect upon 2010, isn’t it amazing at how fast time moves on? Therefore, do not hesitate or delay in your individual praise to God.  It only takes a minute or two.

As we transition into the final month of this summer season, I will author a DAILY blog that will be centered around the theme of “PRAISE.” Prayerfully, this will motivate you to follow the above passage of Scripture without hesitation.

Blessings to you today and PRAISE YE THE LORD!

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. – Psalm 118:8 (KJV)

Did you know that the above Scripture reference is the middle verse of Bible?  Yes – it is always better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Today, I celebrate my 50th birthday!  It is a day of reflection, rest, restoration and relaxation. Last Saturday, I enjoyed a four-hour formal celebration with my family and 100-plus friends for an afternoon of fun, fellowship, and memories.  It was a joyous occasion.  I will share with you what I shared with them as I approached the microphone to both greet and thank my wonderful guests for celebrating with me:

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.   In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)

As I shared my favorite Scripture, I want to emphasize one thing in particular: Trust in the Lord. It’s a choice, but the right choice.  He shall direct your paths.

Today, two of the more talented countries square off at the World Cup soccer tournament in South Africa: Netherlands vs. Brazil.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching as many matches as I could over the past few weeks.  It reminds me that we can indeed live together in peace – if we choose to.  Sports appears to be an engaging time when people around the globe can come together, for a specified period, and live in harmony.  Think about what happens, once every four years, during the Summer Olympics and World Cup.  Hundreds of countries representing billions of people of all hues, languages, customs, practices, lifestyles, and habits come together for two to four weeks at a time, to enjoy the diversity amongst us.

We are able to do so because God made man from one blood.  That act alone should eradicate racism everywhere.  Although we live in different geographic regions, we have much more in common than we have differences.

From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. – Acts 17:26 NIV

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation. – Acts 17:26 KJV

Studies and research on blood type reveal four primary categories for all human kind.  The blood type and percentage of each type is as follows:

Blood Type                 %’age of human population

O Positive………………………………..37.4%

A Positive………………………………..35.7%

A Negative………………………………..6.3%

B Negative………………………………..1.5%

The rarest, AB Negative, is found in only 1 in 167 people, or 0.6% of the population.

A Russian, with an O positive blood type, can successfully donate his/her blood to a South American with the same blood type, and the South American would live.  The reverse applies as well. Same blood type, but living in different regions of the world.  That’s how God works!

As you watch the conclusion of this year’s World Cup, see the players, and the spectators in the stadium, as your brothers and sisters.  Based upon God’s Word – they are.
