Men, my tribute to you is revealed in the family prayer that I wrote in 2005. This prayer is found in book #4 in the Give God the Glory! series titled “The Godly Family Life.”

A Family Prayer

 by Kevin Wayne Johnson

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus

What a joy I have today

To pray unto you

As I do each and every day.

As I wake each day at dawn

To a sun that you caused to rise,

I am again thankful for the opportunity

To have been welcomed into the body of Christ.

I pray for my family, Lord

Whom you created just for me

Your Word says to serve and provide for them

And to encourage them to be what your Word calls them to be.

I pray Father that my family will

Prosper, and be in good health, even as our souls prosper

And that we continually acknowledge You in all of our ways,

Knowing that You shall direct our paths that no one can conquer.

I pray for salvation and academic excellence

For each and every child today

And for my spouse, I pray for peace

That will never fade or away.

I pray Father that our beautiful family

Be a visible example in the earth

Of what Your Word teaches us

That is, to be a blessing and not a curse.

In exchange for Your love toward us

We promise this to you

That this family will remain intact

No matter what the world may say or do.

This family will boldly reflect

What your Word intends for the family to be,

A strong and loving father, a tender and caring mother,

And children who honor their parents as their authority.

Thank you, Father for the stewardship

That comes with parental accountability,

What a privilege to be trusted

With such responsibility!

Father, use our family

To make a change in society

To demonstrate Your awesome love

For all humanity.

 Your Word says,

“Train up a child in the way that he should go,

So that when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

We pledge to do this so our children won’t be tossed to and fro.

 Your Word teaches the man

To love his wife as Christ also loved the church

For she is his glory, as is to be regarded

As precious as Your only Sons’ birth.

So Father, we touch and agree

Right now as we prepare for Your work today,

That Jesus is the solid rock upon which we stand

Even as You care for us every step along the way.

We pray for all families throughout our land

That they will come to know Your unconditional love,

And that Your original plan for the family

Will transcend all that is wrong with this world.

 In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Have a great day fathers!

Today is Race Unity Day and it is important to look at what God’s Word teaches us about race relations.

“…and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.” Acts 17:26 (KJV)

Although we may have different external qualities (skin color, hair texture, facial features), we are indeed all brothers and sisters. Give it some serious thought today and we extend brotherly love to all!!

Thank you God, family and friends!

During the months of May and June, I celebrate ten years of Christian publishing excellence.  In May 2001, the very first book in the Give God the Glory! series (Know God and Do the Will of God Concerning Your Life) was released to the general public in its self-published, paperback version. Our initial book signings were well supported by the Shiloh Pentecostal Church family at a New Jersey bookstore as well as my immediate/extended family at the Cokesbury Christian Bookstore in Richmond, Virginia. From those initial events, over sixty people provided encouragement and inspiration as I began this journey into previously unchartered territory.

Fast forward to 2011, there are so many people to thank for the past ten years as the book series has grown and expanded worldwide.  Eleven books, 17 literary awards, 4 languages, 13 distribution partners, and thousands of books sold, I am in awe of God’s goodness and favor as I respond to His assignment for my life. Last month, I attended North America’s largest book trade show – Book Expo America – in New York City. While there for two days, I continued to expand my existing network as well as establish new relationships.  I also recorded the following interview as a part of the Author’s Studio Podcast.  It summarizes my journey to date:

I am writing from Zion’s Hill – West Middlesex, PA, as I enjoy my weekend with multiple men from the USA and Kenya Africa at the annual National Association of the Church of God National Men’s Ministry retreat. This time of meditation, prayer, relaxation, and reflection motivates me to carry on for another ten years in this challenging, yet comforting, publishing industry. As I have learned from my lifes’ foundation Scripture – 1 Peter 4:11 – I work this ministry based upon the ability in which God provides. I encourage you to do the same!
