Today, we enjoy time off from work to reflect, rest, and restore, as well as give thanks to our military men and women for their wonderful efforts to protect our freedoms as Americans on Memorial Day 2013.

I turned to my Bible today to the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 30. In this great book, God gives us a clear mandate to “choose life.” Obedience to His Word provides liberty and freedom even beyond what we can think or imagine. In verses, 15 to 20, God offers three scenarios:

1. Acknowledge that I have set before you the opportunity for you to choose “life and blessings” or “death and cursings.” Rest assured, it is your choice,

2. If you choose life, you and your offspring will live. However, if you choose the other option, death, you will drawn away to serve other gods, and

3. Now…choose life!! It is by far the better choice!

Twenty years ago today, May 2, 1993, my wife and I confessed Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour after the 11:00am service at Full Gospel AMEZ Church, Temple Hills, Maryland (USA). I still remember as if it occurred on yesterday. What a life changing experience!

We have victory in this world through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57) and He strengthens us (Philippians 4:13) in all areas of our lives as the challenges come our way.

The key to success in this life is to live according to the Kingdom of God principles that are expressly stated throughout the New Testament of the Bible. This involves acknowledging God as our source and exercising righteousness in our daily lives (Romans 14:16-18).

Do you know Jesus? Read Romans 10:9-13. You’ll be glad that you did!

I celebrate my spiritual birthday every year, but this milestone is special. I still love Jesus – twenty years later.
