Our speech represents the “intelligible utterance of our mouths.” Put another way, what we say is an audible reflection of our intelligence. Therefore, when you communicate with others about the goodness of God, allow your speech to utter His righteousness through His:

Righteousness – Psalm 35:28
Wisdom – 1 Corinthians 2:6-7
Word – Psalm 119:172
Truth – Ephesians 4:25
Sound doctrine – Titus 2:1 and 8

Although we live in tumultuous times, God’s Word teaches us “not to fear.” These past three weeks have been particularly troubling that involve recurring events in our nation’s capital – Washington, DC. These include : (1) Navy Yard shooting resulting in multiple deaths and injuries, (2) Government shutdown due to disagreements among elected officials, and (3) Capital Hill car chase and shooting, resulting in one death of a young mother.

Fear is defined as “anxiety caused by approaching danger.” The Book of Psalms and Isaiah provides comfort through these Scriptures:

Psalm 23:4 – Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou are with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 138:7 – Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me; thou shall stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

Isaiah 43:2 – When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Do not fear…you are in good hands!!
